Instructions

1. Press tofu to remove excess water, then cut into cubes. Toss tofu with cornstarch until evenly coated. 2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake (if using), brown sugar/maple syrup, garlic, and ginger for the teriyaki sauce. 3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu and cook until golden brown and crispy on all sides (8-10 minutes). 4. Reduce heat to medium, pour teriyaki sauce over the tofu, and stir gently to coat. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens. 5. Serve the teriyaki tofu over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
